Howdy,
I have been using WP since November 2004 for a gaming-related blog. It has been great, however today I got home and to my dismay it looks like everything from June 2005 to June 2006 has been wiped. Any idea what could have caused this to happen or what I can do to salvage this situation? In the year that is missing I posted a ton of stuff.

Any chance your host restored to an older backup?
In Options->General, does it show the correct time?
When was your last backup (hopefully very recent if you need to restore)?

In Options > General it does show the correct time.
My last backup was *foolishly* in late 2005 so if the host did nuke my current files it looks like I'm spent.
So if you use something like phpMyAdmin do you see your 'missing' posts in the wp_posts table?

I wasn't able to fully check my tables this morning before I left for work, but thanks for your help Michael. I just got home and it seems like my blog in question is restored. I did put in a support ticket with my host this morning, so perhaps they looked into the situation and fixed it...
Out of the frying pan and into the fire though, because now a second blog of mine is DOA. The url is http://www.bvvp.com/ffxi and I am getting a "Can’t select database" error. Oh boy it seems that my web host is up to something.
This type of thing is enough to panic me into learning more about how to fully backup my blog files in case this happens again. While using FTP to backup WordPress files is a no brainer to me, I am unfamiliar with exactly how I need to go about copying database files to my HD. This is something I can do from phpMyAdmin yes? Any suggestions about where I should search to figure this type of thing out?
