    Hi,
I am using simple catch theme. I would like to have a static Home page that doesn't show a sidebar and then a separate blog page that does have a sidebar. Is this possible and if so, how do I do it with a simple catch theme?
    Thanks.

Yes, you can do it. When you write a page for homepage. You will see "Select Sidebar Layout" meta box. From that you choose No Sidebar and save it.

After that you can use the WP Settings->Reading Select the static page.

I did this. And then I went to widgets to put the things I want in the sidebar, but they don't show up on the page I set up as a blog. The blog entry itself shows up, but nothing in the sidebar.
    Thanks.
