I have set my landing page to static under the "settings" tab several times, closed and reopened, etc. And tried several different test pages. The page still opens to my blog page, with my homepage below it. The page used to work fine and is now giving me problems.
Thinking about updating to 4.2.

Check your theme template for your homepage. If using the blog template it might cause this behavior.

It only gives me three template options--blog isn't one of them. It is "default" "archives" and "sitemap". It is set at default. I tried changing it to "sitemap" and that did not fix the problem.

Try switching to the twenty-ten theme and see if it displays correctly. If so, your current theme template might need to be edited. What theme are you using?

You can still have a static front page with the twenty-ten theme. If it works correctly in twenty-ten then the problem lies with your theme. If I know the theme you are using I can look at the template code.

Great. There is no "problem" with your Traction Pro theme as that is the way it is designed. You could possibly edit it but since it is a premium theme you would need to contact the developer for support. I suggest finding a theme that more closely suits your needs/tastes.
