    Hi,

    I'm lost in this one.

    The situation:

    I tried to move from

    - (a) http://www.00q.nl/wordpress to
    - (b) http://www.hulp4all.com

    What did i do:

    - Copied the whole dir from a to b.
    - Exported all the comments etc to a XML file and imported it in the new blog on server b.
    - Imported the database from a to b.

Why do i still get that all links point to the old website? Even my wp-login points to 00q.nl once i'm logged in. Please try to be clear with a reply, as i'm just a beginner with this matter :) Thanks in advance. The one who has the golden tip is the (wo)man!

When I do this I take my database backup, unzip it and open it in a decent text editor. (I like textwrangler on the mac, but others are available)

Then do a search & replace. In your case I would search for http:/www.00q.nl/wordpress & replace every instance with http://www.hulp4all.com

Zip up the backup file & restore the edited zipped backup as usual. (You could alternatively run a query in phpmysql instead of the search & replace.)

    Reset the permalinks as well.

Good advice, but I would recommend the search/replace be on:

    00q.nl/wordpress

    and replace with:

    hulp4all.com

If you include the entire url, you are likely to miss a lot of entries (particularly on a large db) that need to be changed.

I'll give it a try folks!

i'll also check the XML file and change all the 00q.nl links in it.

    Thx so far.

    It just doesn't work :(

I've searched and replaces everything containting 00q.nl(/wordpress), the dbase has all the right info. But there must be a file or so somewhere pointing to the old website.

Which files are concerned with these kind of settings?

If you hit the direct link, for instance http://www.hulp4all.com/?page_id=30 it works. But somehow all the links on the blog, even in the menu, point to the old site. Also the admin page btw! If you fill in your account info, you are redirected to 00q.nl.

I hope someone is able to give me the right answer.

You need to edit the prefs on your blog and tell it that it's in a new place. From what I'm seeing, its still set for 00q.nl...

Look under your General Settings on the backend, it should have the wrong domain listed.

The problem was that the THEME was pointing / updating the url to the old domain. Now that i changed that, it works like a charm! :)

    Thx for the help.
