its probably important to note that nothing has changed from a server end, and that there has been no disruption of service on any of the other sites…it seems to be a wordpress phenomenon only.
Try removing the mini-cal plugin from two blogs ? See what happens ? Or go to the authors site and look for any solutions.
c3ro, do you run wp-shortstats? Mine started doing the same thing a couple of days ago. I disabled the plugin and everything runs fine again. I haven’t changed anything on my site in several months. I’ve noticed a lot of other people suddenly having this problem.
I’m having the exact same described problem, same circumstances. I am working with 5 WordPress blogs on 2 servers, all separate SQL databases. In the last couple weeks they started hanging or continuously loading, even after 99% of the page is displayed. When it starts hanging up, then I can’t get into the WP-admin (frustrating!).
I thought it seemed to be hanging on my Google AdSense in my Footer, and I don’t really want to have to remove those, but I thought about removing them for testing.
First I will try disabling WP-ShortStat (it previously gave me problems with incompatibility with Google Sitemap plugin; I thought this was fixed by the newer Sitemap plugin). It would be a shame to lose ShortStat cuz I’m addicted to checking it.
If anyone has another solution please post….
I love & miss my WP-ShortStat
but my pages are back to loading normally since I disabled it
I don’t get what changed tho, I was running ShortStat perfectly for months. I’m suspicious there’s a ShortStat/Google Sitemap/AdSense issue.
Anyone know?

More than likely, the problem is that your ShortStat database became over-bloated and nearly dragged MySQL to a halt. For this reason, there is a _killprevious.php
script included with the ShortStat package which clears previous months from the database. I recommend using it on a monthly basis.
