Hello all,
I have in the last 24 hours decided to go ahead and set up my own blog with my own host. I chose to use one.com, and my blog location will be at http://www.edsmusings.com.
I have installed WordPress in a directory within the root on the server, e.g. all the files are found in /Wordpress. I want the blog to be visible to people who type http://www.edsmusings.com into their address bar.
Having installed WordPress I can access the control panel without any problems at http://www.edsmusings.com/wordpress/wp-admin/.
I have followed word-for-word the instructions at http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory which I believe should now allow the blog to be viewed by people typing in http://www.edsmusings.com.
However, anyone who does view that URL will simply see the one.com holding page.
Looking at the root on the server, the only things visible is a folder titled 'wordpress', the index.php file which I manually updated to reflect the new directory, and the .htaccess file.
I'd be very grateful as to whether people think this is user error, or something to raise with one.com. I am not a techie and haven't used a web host before.
Thanks,
Ed
