[resolved] Blog index not showing up as excerpts in twenty twelve child theme (6 posts)

    Dashboard > Settings > Reading
    Front Page displays a Static Page
    A "Posts" Page is set up named "Blog."
    For each article in a feed, show: Summary is checked.

    When I click on a category or tag or other archive type link, I get excerpts as intended.

    When I click on "Blog" to go to the posts page I don't get excerpts. I get the full articles, one after another.

    Is this working as intended?

    How can I make it so the same thing that shows up for a category or tag or archive shows up for my regular blog output too?

    I want excerpts only, not entire posts. I could swear that checking summary in settings used to make that happen.

    hmm... I know I've run past this before. I think category excerpts are just generated off a chunk of your main article text, but when summary is checked is uses only what is found in the excerpt box? Try throwing something in that box and see what happens. :)

    For each article in a feed, show: Summary is checked.

    this influences feeds only; to have an excerpt in the site's index page, you will need to edit content.php (ideally in a child theme of Twenty Twelve);

    That worked alchymyth, thanks. I hadn't tried it because I thought it only kicked in on the sites home page and my blog page isn't on the front page. Turns out it makes no difference .

    Did you ever get this fixed?

    Instead of modifying the content template, you can just add <!--more--> quicktag in your content, you can read about it here.
