   Check with your hosts that your server is running mod_rewrite.

   I am with 000webhost. I'm completely novice to all this... I created a htaccess file and put it in the public_html file. Almost all of the posts now work, but there are still a few that randomly redirect to the error page. Ie the one 'Hostelling the High Life'. I posted it over a week ago and for some reason it still won't load.

   Oh, and when I link them to Facebook, even if they DO work, the link pretends to link to an error page even though it loads fine once it's clicked. :(

   Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting and deleting/renaming your WordPress .htaccess file. If this works, then set your custom permalink structure back up again and recheck.
