   Hi Everyone! I hope that you guys can help out my good friend, Laurie over at http://www.august8th.net

   Her blog has been hacked into just a few minutes ago. She doesn't know what to do because this has never happened to her. She asked for my advice but I don't know what I would do either! She tried changing themes but it still doesn't change her index page.

   She's on the phone now with her webhost but she's on hold. So I thought I'd run over here and see if someone could give her advice on what to do and what steps to take to get her blog back to normal.

   She's running WP 2.0. I think [THINK] she didn't do the upgrade to 2.0.2 Security Release. Could this be why someone was able to hack into her blog?

   I hope you guys can help! She's on the phone now but again, on hold. I told her I'd start a thread here for her in hopes that you guys can help her out.

   Please help her! Thanks in advance y'all.

   Ummm...just what does the hack look like?
   I see a fairly normal blog.

   1. Change all passwords.
   2. CHMOD (change file permissions) on EVERYTHING to 644
   3. Backup the database
   4. Download all the wp files

   Then the damage can be assessed.

   Samboll, yeah, it's sort of back to normal now. Her webhost was able to restore it.
   She's still having problems with some stuff though.

   this is what the hack looked like. i hadn't upgraded to the latest build of wp, I'm guessing that's why my site was so vulnerable. Well that and my pw was something straight outta the dictionary. Lessons learned!

   My host seems to have taken care of everything. Thank goodness!

   Backup everything regularly :)

   now I know who had the username I wanted when I signed up on here :)

   sucks that your blog got hacked. was it actually the blog or your server?

   hey. at least your host was able to restore it.

   also... what version are you running? was this a wp2.0 thing? anything the rest of us should be worried about?

   John- no it was just the blog itself that was hacked. I'm running 2.0 fixing to upgrade real quick. Sorry bout taking the name, hehe. Goes with my blog though! lol
