Hi, my blog has disappeared. I went to install/activate a new plugin called 'bigmailchimp' and then my screen went blank and does nothing. When I type in the url 'sunshineforthesoul.net' is doesn't appear either and is just a white blank screen.

Does anyone know how I can get it back and/or deactivate plugins as I can't login to the wordpress admit site.

    Please help.

I have a theme through organic themes but I don't know where the problem lies.

    Thanks,
    Nicole.

If you can still access the database using phpMyAdmin or something like that have a look at: http://perishablepress.com/quickly-disable-or-enable-all-wordpress-plugins-via-the-database/. This site provides instructions on how to manually deactivate all active plugins and get access back to the blog.

Thanks Marcello, this is a great help, however I am not very technically savvy so don't know how to operate phpMyAdmin. Any chance you could help walk me through that? Do I need to download phoMyAdmin? When I tried to download it, it says the file can't be opened as 'there is no application to open it'

Would appreciate any help you can give me. I can't access the admin section of wordpress so it looks like I need to use php but don't know how.

    Thanks.

Do you have file level access to your web server? If you do via FTP or some other file management tool delete your wp-content/plugins/bigmailchimp directory. Just the one bigmailchimp directory and nothing else.

Then then see if you can log into your WordPress dashboard.

    Hi Jan,
    Thanks for the message.
I don't know what you mean by 'file level access' really but I have read a few comments people have written and it sounds like I need to deactivate plugins through phpMyAdmin or FTP neither of which I have any clue about how to use?

Do you know the steps I need to take to use php or FTP? Do I download something or?

    Thanks

FTP is frequently the easier of the two options as phpmyadmin can be daunting for newer users.

If you do have FTP access to your site (check with your host) there are a list of clients you can try, FileZilla being very popular.

I don't use FTP myself, so I may not be the best person to walk you through that. ;)

Or contact your host and ask them nicely to delete that one directory for you. That may be your quickest way to resolved this. Show them my post above and if they're willing then the should be able to do that for you.
