Blocking referral spam from specific TLDs (4 posts)

    Hi,

Does anybody know if there is any way of blacklisting specific TLDs from accessing a website?

I am presently being overwhelmed by referrer spam, predominately from the .pl ccTLD. I have banned the ip blocks for Poland through .htaccess, but as they're mostly using proxies, this has had little effect.

I have tried the 'Referrer Bouncer' and 'IQ Block Country' plugins, but as I assume these too work on ip addresses, they don't work either.

So is there any other way to block the .pl domain altogether and rid me of this drain on my bandwidth.

Many thanks for any help you can offer,

    Nick

Sounds like something you'd be better off doing with .htaccess.

How? As I said, I've already blocked the Polish IP blocks through .htaccess. Is it also possible to do the same with the .pl ccTLD?

    Cheers.

It would seem I've asked the wrong forum.
