blank white page after adding subsites on 3.6 (19 posts)

I updated my website to 3.6

I start adding new subsites using the plugin "blog copier". Everything was working fine as I was checking the site periodically. Now all I get is a white blank page when visiting the website.

I can access the backend from my computer, but cannot access anything on the front end.

I can access the site from my phone, but I get a blank page when trying to login.

I haven't made any other changes to the website.

  2. Most likely you have a plugin conflict. What happens if you disable all plugins?

No change. The same when I disable all themes.

Do you have an idea on where I can look to fix this?

I enabled WP Debug in wp-config.php and got this error

Notice: wpdb::escape is deprecated since version 3.6! Use wpdb::prepare() or esc_sql() instead. in /home/content/94/8433994/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2876

  6. Switch to the default theme (Twenty Tweleve)

    No change.

Can still access back-end but white screens on all front end.

Same here, but only some subsites.

I've found that if I create a new user, and grant super admin privileges, but do not add them to any subsites, they are able to do everything without the white screens.

That's NORMALLY caused by the theme active on your main site of the network.... Plugins can also do it. Have you turned off all plugins on the main site AND switched to a default theme?

I have the same problem, would LOVE, to hear if there are any alternative solutions proposed.

  13. You mean other than turn off all your plugins and change to the default theme to see if it goes away?

Nope. It's generally not WordPress core, it's something you added on :/ If it was core, more people would have it, but also a reinstall would fix it.

    Thank you Mika.

I did a manual update of WordPress and it fixed it (followed WordPress instructions which were fab), so happy now!

  15. So your problem was an incomplete upgrade of WP :)

I'm having the same problem. I guess I'll try that manual update.

Yeah Mika, I think there were two potential problems.

    1) WP Total Cache can cause this problem so I found out. So i just ditched all plugins before the manual update.
    2) Also, the account was close 50MB from being full, so that may have been part of the issue?

I'm tending towards the first one, but happy either way that it's fixed now :)

    Dan

  18. Problem #2 would explain why the upgrade was incomplete!

W3 Total Cache having that problem should be resolved in the latest version (I think it was fixed two versions back actually...)
