   Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?

   When I upgraded to 2.3.1 I imported all my old UTW Tags...

   Each time I edit a post a blank(unnamed)tag is added that nonetheless contains a number in the "slug"- I am up to almost 2,000 altho I only have a hundred or so "named" tags. They are like freaking Tribbles ;-)

   I do use Christine's tag "things" so I will see if I can post in a forum or leave a comment there as well...

   At this point I am googling around for tag cleanup plugins!

   The VERY, VERY kind Christine suggested that, for the the time being, I disable the Embedded Tag Thing and that has stopped the proliferation of the blank tags.

   Additionally, the tag display functionality seems to continue to work- this may be because I had manually added
   the Tags code to my theme?

   Also, Simple Tags has a one click fix for the tags "bug"
