blank space after posts (php problem i believe) (13 posts)

    this is from my other thread, but condensed to facilitate the exact specifications without reading through numerous posts:

    wp version 1.5
    link: http://www.tjinh200.com/tjinh200/
    problem occurring: on all pages

    the problem is occuring at the bottom of my pages, just above the footer. the problem is blank, white space.

    - this only occurs in FF, in IE it looks as it should (without the mass of white space just above the footer)
    - in my sidebar.php if i put any additional code beneath the "Meta" tags, this error occurs
    - if i put my intended code anywhere above the "Archives" tag in my sidebar.php, it does work, without whitespace ... problem being, i would like the intended code at the end of my sidebar
    - at the bottom of my sidebar.php file, taking one of the <div> tags away will remove the whitespace, but also the footer

    any thoughts?

    If you are talking about on single post pages, the extra white space underneath the post is because you have two empty <div> blocks down there.

    <div class="right"></div>
    <div class="left"></div>

    those are from my index.php and were originally:

    <div class="right"><?php posts_nav_link('','','previous &raquo;') ?></div>
    <div class="left"><?php posts_nav_link('','&laquo; newer ','') ?></div>

    what can i do about that? ...

    Delete them.

    If you're using index.php for single post pages too, you can do this so that the divs don't output unless the link is output.

    <?php posts_nav_link('','',' <div class="right">previous &raquo;</div>') ?>
    <?php posts_nav_link('','<div class="left">&laquo; newer</div>','') ?>

    I'm not sure why the default theme isn't like that in the first place. Now everyone is building their themes off of the default and is you ask me, this is much cleaner code.

    i've deleted them ... and they don't show up in the source, but there is still the white space ... i don't understand why? ...

    <br /><br /> is down there. Two blank lines.

    i've noticed that as well, but the space is much larger than two br tags ... are you viewing it in IE or FF? IE will output how it should be, FF outputs the whitespace above the footer, and below the posts ... (but i've now deleted the two br tags) ...

    When I view it in FF, it's less than in inch. Probably about the height of two lines.

    And now that you've removed the extra br tags there isn't any extra space.

    For one thing....I was looking at the single post pages. Which no longer have the extra white space. Your main page, never showed me exta blank space. The link to previous is actually almost on the footer. Have you forced a refresh in FF? Ctrl + F5 on a PC.

    i'm not sure how this could be ... i just did a force refresh, and the same thing, too much white space, i'm beginning to think it's my FF perhaps? but i've already closed it, and opened it again and it did not show different results ...
