    Hi I'm trying to get wp 1.02 running.
    have chmodded all files to 777
    Just installed mysql
    Started mysql
    Added wordpress database through webmin
    Manually edited wp-config.php
    Then when I open /wp-admin/install.php in browser I get a blank page.
    I tried the php script in a previous post to list mysql databases for the user and get this message:
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in /var/www/html/mysql.php on line 3
    heres the script:
    <?php
    $link = mysql_connect('localhost', 'mysql_user', 'mysql_password');
    $db_list = mysql_list_dbs($link);
    while ($row = mysql_fetch_object($db_list)) {
    echo $row->Database . "<br>";
    }
    ?>
    Anyone know whats going wrong?

    you mixed your own thing in this install, because there is no "mysql.php" file in WP...
    when you don't know what's the bug, install a CLEAN install, not a modified one.

    the mysql.php is just the test script I copied from a previous post, which i gather checks what databases are available to the user, nothing to do with wp, apart from it should list the available databases not error like it does for me.

    I just downloaded the 2004-03-11 nightly build, and after editing wp-config.php it also shows a blank screen at wp-admin/install.php.
    I'm running php 4.1.2, and mysql 3.23.58 and firefox and ie both give blank pages.
    Is this likely to be a mysql problem?

    fixed!
    Think the problem was I needed to restart apache,
    after #apachectl graceful
    I was able to run install.php

    i had this problem as well, but my issue was that i didn't have the php-mysql module installed on my debian box i'm using as the server. After I installed php-mysql and restarted apache, it loaded fine.
