    I did something really stupid. I upgraded my local version of WordPress. I left my online version alone. Then I made a change to wp-settings.php and uploaded it to the server forgetting I had not upgraded the online version. Now my site doesn't show. How can I fix this?

  2. Just re-upload a fresh copy of WordPress on your server (minus the wp-content folder) and don't ever change core files.

    I did a manual install and followed the instructions. Yes I know about changing core files. Sometimes as a developer you have to tweak new core files such as wp-settings.php if they are causing issues. Example is this line of code. on line 35

    // Set default timezone in PHP 5.
    if ( function_exists( 'date_default_timezone_set' ) )
    	date_default_timezone_set( 'UTC' );
