Blank page on installation (6 posts)

    Hi. I just followed the installation instructions and have hit a snag. Steps 1-4 were easy enough. In Step 5 when I ran the installer all I got was a blank page! Here is my edited wp-config.php:

    define('DB_NAME', 'wordpress');
    define('DB_USER', 'wordpress');
    define('DB_PASSWORD', 'abc123');
    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');

    I'm running Apache2(2.0.52), PHP(5.0.3), and MySQL(4.1.8) on Windows XP. All the server apps were installed with .msi installers. Do I need to do anything to the apache2 conf file to make it recognize mysql? PHP is working fine.

    I'm just installing on my own server at the moment, so hopefully the blog will be available at http://localhost/blog/ .

    Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm really looking forward to getting this working.

    Regards,

    K, I figured it out. I installed PHP again but didn't use the installer this time, just the package. Things look fine now. My bad.

    Cripes! I'm running wp-admin/install.php right now and Steps 1 & 2 have completed fine. At the bottom of Step 2 it's asking for the installation directory of WP. It guessed http://localhost but I have mine in a subdirectory called 'blog'. So should I enter http://localhost/blog/ ? Cause this is what I've done, yet that produces a Step 3 page that is blank!

    WTF have I done wrong?

    I did that, and it results in a page that says Step 3 but is completely blank i.e. no error messages at all.
