• Dear SlickQuiz,

Since I updated the plugin, I have been having issues. All my old quizzes are running perfectly fine, but creating new ones is impossible. As I create a new one, and then press either ‘preview’, ‘publish’, or ‘save’, I will be redirected to a blank page, where-after I can’t return, and my entire quiz is lost, and I have to start over again. Please let me know how to fix this since I very much rely on this awesome plug-in.

    Yours Sincerely,

@cck2013 – I’m sorry to hear that! Since the issue is on the admin side, I’ll have to ask a few questions to try and help you figure out what the problem is.

After clicking the any of those buttons, if you go back to the main SlickQuiz listing, you do not see the quiz you just tried to create? Correct?

If you go to the edit page of an existing quiz, does the form show up?

Have you tried editing an existing quiz? If not, don’t try – I don’t want you to run into the same issue when editing and potentially lose content.

When you get to the blank page, what is the URL of that page?

Lastly, can you let me know the SlickQuiz plugin version, your WordPress version, and what other plugins you might have installed?

Hopefully that information should steer us in the right direction.

Thanks for using SlickQuiz and very sorry you’ve run into this trouble – we’ll get it worked out!

Thank you for getting back to me!

Correct, the quiz does not seem to exist when I go back to the main SlickQuiz listing.

I have not tried to editing an existing quiz since I’m honestly afraid to lose content.

This is the URL of the ‘blank’ page; http://www.californiacoasterkings.com/wp-admin/admin.php?QuizTitle=Test&MainCopy=&ResultCopy=&Level1small81100Bestsmall=t&Level2small6180small=e&Level3small4160small=s&Level4small2140small=t&Level5small020Worstsmall=%21&question=Test+&correct=Test&incorrect=More+test&answer=test+1&answer=test+2

SlickQuiz version; 1.2.35m which I upgraded only a couple of days back, I have not installed any new plugins for a while besides ‘Public Post Preview’ version 2.3, which I may have installed after the update. (Not sure, same couple of days).

    My WordPress version is 3.8.1

Thank you for helping me out!

Hmm alright, well first I’d suggest temporarily disabling any new plugins you installed after the SlickQuiz update and then trying to create a quiz again.

If that doesn’t work, go ahead and re-enable the plugins, next I’m going to have you look at the development panel in your browser to look for error messages on the page. This is a somewhat advanced debugging tactic. So I think the best way to approach it would be to let me know which browser you’re using and then I can give you instructions on how to view the dev console and what to look for. Also, it may be worth testing creation in a different browser.

Thanks for your patience and help in figuring this out! It is always trickier when the issue is on the admin side.

I disabled the new plugin and it seems to have solved the problem. Thank you so much for your help. If I activate the plugin in between making quizzes it should be alright, right?

    Thanks once again!

Glad to hear it! I don’t suspect it should cause any trouble when you’re not trying to save or edit quizzes, but of course, use with caution!

Thanks for your patience and thanks for using SlickQuiz!

    Hello,

We’re constantly having the same issue and are unable to disable plugins as we have a number of blogs managed under the same WP instance. It seems to me like an issue with special characters (c/p from Word). Or it could be related to a session ending. The trouble is the fact that you cannot save as you go. Using the latest version of Chrome.

    Best,
    Alex

@hamonfiveholdthemayo – Did you just download the plugin and discover this is happening? Or have you had the plugin installed for a while and the issue is new?

Is the problem that you’re never able to save a quiz? Or only sometimes?

What happens when you click the save, preview, or publish button on the quiz form?
