Blank dialog after "Insert into Post" clicked, no images (5 posts)

Hello. I have perhaps half a dozen wordpress blogs and I've just encountered a new, to me, problem.

When I go to insert images, after I upload it and press the "Insert into Post" button that dialog turns completely white and then stays there. I eventually need to close the dialog with the X button in the upper right and of course the image is not insert.

I'm running 2.7.1 and this is an almost brand new installation. I have disabled all plugins. Notice. I can upload them fine, I can even type [gallery] and the images show up.

Curiously, another new blog of mine, running the exact same configuration (except for theme) is able to insert images normally. This makes me think it isn't a browser issue since I can work the other blog fine. Oh, and I've checked this under Safari and Firefox (Macintosh) and I even cleared the cache in Safari.

    I appreciate any help.

Try re-uploading fresh copies of wp-admin and wp-includes.

One other thought - have you set up any special configs to block popups, ads etc. in Firefox? I had a very similar problem on another (non-WordPress) site which I eventually narrowed down to my ad-blocking.

nope. I turned off Ad Block Plus, no joy. Re-uploading admin and includes. Nope.

The blog is brand new so I'll just nuke it all and start over. That will take less time than debugging it. But man, hope it doesn't happen again!

This happens to me, consistently across all browsers, and I have popups allowed. I get this string in the address bar and a white page:

    http://seethesouthwest.mytestbed.com/wp-admin/media-upload.php?type=file&tab=gallery&post_id=129

Before all this AJAX tomfoolery started, WP had a really elegant NATIVE image uploader. I wish it could be brought back, resurrected as a plugin or something. This is just ridiculous how so many "features" become nonfunctional on so many browsers.
