My blog is in a subdirectory of my site because the site was fully developed when I added on WordPress. I set it up to show a page of the blog for the site’s main page. I have a custom 404 error page (or I had one) but it doesn’t show if I type in a nonexistent URI. I get the WordPress theme with a blank page instead. If I type in the name of the 404 page it shows, but it is specified in the .htaccess file and does not show up. It was working fine but I think the WP rewrite has something to do with this as it specifies index.php and I use AddHandler to show php pages as html. I tried reading up here about the rewrite rules, but they apply to WP pages and not the static html pages of my site which is what the 404page.html is. Can I just make a 404.php copy of my custom page? I can’t tell what is supposed to be showing when I get an error, but it is a blank page in the frame of my WP theme. Help?

    Hi,

Please remove the .htaccess code for the wordpress and then have a check with your site….after that remove all unwanted plugins and then check with the blog..if it is not working then simply create .htaccess file inside the wordpress blog folder and apply 644 permissions and add rules..

This may resolve the issue for your site and blog…you are getting 404 error message due to that rules in .htaccess file.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.
