• Hi. I designed my site templates in Artisteer 2, which allows adding a dropdown menu to the main menu buttons.

However, there is a really strange effect once you upload & instal the template, and you start to add Pages to create the menu. Each main menu button is a page to itself. I had put important data in those pages. Then, when I added items to the submenu which expands from each existing menu button, it’s no longer apparent to someone clicking that there is ALSO a page attached to the main button.

For example, if you click on the button “Christmas Tales”, it lights yup in yellow, and two sub-buttons pop up below in darker colors:

This arrangement gives the impression the “yellow” lit button is the head of a category, but not a button attached to a page in its own right. So, the page it’s attached to will be overlooked by a visitor.
There is a tendency to click only the sub-items, and ignore the main buttons!

I don’t want to lose my main buttons and replace the menu with some other widget.

I prefer to stop using the dropdown. In lieu of this, I have to find somewhere else to put my extra pages. I would put a block of links into the sidebar, instead. But every time I make a new page … which I would want to put just in that block of links in the sidebar … it generates another MAIN button on the main menu! (And the row of buttons breaks the theme as it wraps around.)

I can’t figure out how to create pages that do not automatically generate menu buttons. Or, put another way, pages that don’t show up on the menu, but which exist in the dashboard, and which I can link anywhere I please.

    Any help appreciated, thank you!
