Hello all, I am wondering if you can help me.

    So…

    1) I download wordpress and upload it to my server.
    2) I begin to install it
    3) I fill in all the database details – database name, username, password, and in database host i put in the ip address fasthosts gave me – I click submit and they are fine!
    4) I run install
    5) I fill in the title, username, password, email and click install wordpress.
    6) Then suddenly a whole load of jargon comes up filling up the page multiple times. Here is an example of the first few lines of all this jargon:

WordPress database error: [CREATE command denied to user 'thecolorfulcomp'@'server213-171-218-129.livedns.org.uk' for table 'wp_terms']
CREATE TABLE wp_terms ( term_id bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, name varchar(200) NOT NULL default '', slug varchar(200) NOT NULL default '', term_group bigint(10) NOT NULL default 0, PRIMARY KEY (term_id), UNIQUE KEY slug (slug), KEY name (name) ) DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8
WordPress database error: [CREATE command denied to user 'thecolorfulcomp'@'server213-171-218-129.livedns.org.uk' for table 'wp_term_taxonomy']
CREATE TABLE wp_term_taxonomy ( term_taxonomy_id bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, term_id bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL default 0, taxonomy varchar(32) NOT NULL default '', description longtext NOT NULL, parent bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL default 0, count bigint(20) NOT NULL default 0, PRIMARY KEY (term_taxonomy_id), UNIQUE KEY term_id_taxonomy (term_id,taxonomy), KEY taxonomy (taxonomy) ) DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8

    At the bottom it says:

    ‘Success!

WordPress has been installed. Were you expecting more steps? Sorry to disappoint.

    Username admin
    Password Your chosen password.’

So I click log in anyway and it takes me back to step 5.

🙁 Whats going on? The database details are fine.

Please, please help anyone. Thank you in advance and I will reply.

  • You just need to change the database user privileges. When the data base user is created click the All Privileges checkbox. You should be able to dos this using the control panel from your host.

Also might be a good idea to change the database username since it is being displayed in the error code above.

Thank you, Well I hope this works. Ill try it now and post back. If not I may paste most of the code to see if I get any feedback on that. Thank you again

Sure but please use the WordPress Pastbin and xx out any username or password information.

    WordPress isnt really that simple.
Now I have a problem even getting the install page back up.

One minute it loads, the next it doesnt. Does the new version of wordpress have bugs?

sounds more like your host’s server has the bugs

So how many times I go through these steps again, nothing changes.
I cannot changes privilages on my fasthosts account as it says I can change the DBO password and I am logged in which means I am the main administrator but still no luck!

Looking at the code it is a user issue but I have no idea. i can either blame wordpress for having some sort of bug or fasthosts for being rubbish basically but looking at the whole thing, I cannot do anything.

Maybe if I was to try this locally but then would I be able to upload it and change the database details and still have it work.

Also how come it goes through the database details fine but when it comes to the admin information need it fails, almost like a wordpress problem, plus at the end of all the blurted code that comes out it says success but obviously not.

I need help. And i dont wanna use another blog site becouse there isnt one as good as wordpress “so ive been told” plus I need a blog to install into my site.

    🙁

Ooooh look! Something else new when trying again, this time I didnt change anything. again! This is a continue-es circle.

    SUCCESS!
    I have done it.

So here is my answer to this problem. Nothing! Absolutely nothing.
Go through the steps as my first post and it will either work or won’t work.

I kept trying and trying putting in the same details as in a continue-es circle and in the end it just gave up messing me around and decided it will let me win this time.

Still not sure what the problem was, not sure why it did it. But if you just keep going it will eventually let in.

Maybe bugs, maybe a glitch in the matrix but I saw no cats. Who know’s

Thank you everyone for the support so far. 🙂

I thought I had spoken too soon then, I was directed to the login screen : http://www.mysite.com/wordpress/wp-login.php and it came out with a 505 error, then I typed in the address again and it came out with a few unable to connects as before. A few more refreshs and refreshes of my ftp files and it eventually did it.

I expect the same problem again but if I keep trying, it will continue.
