• This is a feature request.

It would be great if, from the edit image panel, one could name a new image version (to use later in code, for example through a slug).

In other words, after for example cropping and rotating an image, it would be great if I could name it before saving. And, as a developer, use that name to retrieve that image version from php.

This would definitely enable the ability to have for example, arbitrary image versions as thumbs and totally different versions as zoom, say, in a gallery. This would finally solve the image versions issues (from a developer point of view, but also for users, if developers make good use of this feature). Than one can program for example a gallery that checks if a ‘rotated_thumb’ version of the image exists and use it accordingly, otherwise use some other automated or custom size.
