Best way to transfer posts from another system? (9 posts)

Well I used to use E107 before I started using WP again (was on WP before I moved to E107).

At the moment I'm going through the incredibly, time consuming, brain killing process of copying and pasting over my original posts. I can't use RSS feeds to move the content over because of the extended body is not included.

So far I have shifted 120 posts, I have another 80-90 to go (argh!). This of course is just my blog posts, I still have to shift over the reviews to WP which are in the reigion of a bout 200 posts.

Realyy I'm just looking for an easier way than copying and pasting my posts from one site to another - is there such a way? It's a shame there's no import feature from e107 to WP because there is an import thing for WordPress to E107, which means they have more of a pool to lure people with.

If anyone has some good suggestions I am all ears, because I've spent about 2-3 months moving the posts over one by one (and remember I have 90+200 remaining) while working on themes, and trying to sort my life out with other responsibilities.

    Thank you in advance

Try Blogger API. It should be supported on E107. WordPress supports it.
Blogger API will give you the full posts etc.

Another option would be to use custom database queries to transfer between the two databases.

angusman got any suggestions on where to start looking - blogger api means chicken fritters to me, and custom database query - is that the new cereal from Kellog's?

So what does Blogger API do? I'll do some googling but if you come up with any info I'm listening. Cheers

    Blogger API information
    http://plant.blogger.com/api/

It is an API supported by most weblog & cms systems. You can read/write posts using blogger api. You can write little (say around 10-15 lines) of custom code in blogger api to move your posts from one system to another. Each system's documentation will provide information about this.

Again custom database query is just that. You write the sql. I guess you are not much into db programming :)

If you can generate a full RSS file, try the RSS import script. I think that's why it's there, offered as a generic import script.

Yeah I'm trying man I;m trying, it's just...horrible to have a CMS that allows you to import but makes it nigh on impossible o export

That how they get users to lock in to their product. It is actually an effective marketing strategy, ask Microsoft :)

I believe Jensen is not getting the full RSS file.

Angusman is correc tI don't think I can send out a full RSS feed - the only way it seems possible is if I was to go into each individual post and modify the content so that it displays in the main body which would work, but then I don't know if that's twice the work.

Login and change all 90+200 posts individually so they display completely. Of course it seems the only content it provides feeds from are the the front page news, anything before that is not provided so I have to....compliated isn't it....

Reviews I seem to have to do manually....
