[resolved] Best way to make my WordPress post page my site's index page? (9 posts)

Hi all, I'm a new WordPress user, and this is my first post in these forums.

Before I ask my question, I just want to say how impressed I am by the software and the community support for it in plug-ins and themes. Thank you everyone for making this incredible tool.

I've installed WordPress on my site in the standard directory (ie. http://mysite.com/wordpress), and spent the past week developing and publishing content.

I want to make the WordPress post page (ie http://mysite.com/wordpress) the page everyone first sees when they visit my domain (ie http://mysite.com).

What's the best way to do this...?

I'd like to avoid reinstalling WordPress in the root directory, if that's possible, because I'm concerned I'll have to redo all my content.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

If you aren't very experienced in WordPress, I can do the move for you.

Thanks for your advice and kind offer.

I'll have a go at it (learning by doing :-) and let you know if I run into any hurdles.

One question: if I use the 'export' function in WordPress, I'll have a re-installable copy of my blog, right...? (The function doesn't mention the database, but then, if I import the XML file, it will recreate the data base anyway, won't it?)

    Many Thanks.

The export function exports all of your posts and pages, after that, just re-install WordPress with all of your plugins and themes and you're set to go!
