What is the best way to learn WP? I am new to web devlopment but have been on the frindges for years.
I would like to learn how to go from start to a platform where I can keep growing my skills without it (the site) looking like I dont know what im doing.

Here is a good place to start:

Then just get it installed and start playing with it, if you break it most likely the answer is in the Docs are here in the forum.
Plus there are a couple of wordpress books you could pick up from your local book store too.
I'd install on my local PC, (see appropriate section of Installing WordPress) and read through some Codex articles http://codex.wordpress.org.
