Best Way to Delete a Page?

    Hi, hoping for some advice here. What is the best way to delete a page that’s been ‘live’ for a couple of years on our site, (caused loads of work but not lead to any business)? Shall I just delete it then do a 301 redirect to homepage or remove it on Google Webmaster? Don’t want to cause any harm or create loads of errors. Thanks.
