    Hi,

I have seen the tutorial for backing up the WordPress Database via php admin. But I am looking for the best way to backup the WordPress files.

Can someone please suggest the best way to backup WordPress files or point me to a decent tutorial? The tutorials for that on these forums aren’t as comprehensive as for the database.

    Thanks.

Use ‘the reverse of ‘ Uploading WordPress to a remote host. Meaning use FTP to ‘download’ your complete wordpress folder.

hmm, so basically right click ‘Download’ the entire WordPress file in Filezilla into a folder on your local computer?

    That’s it.

Some host offer a way to zip/compress a folder then you could download that.

Not sure if Filezilla offers that, will try to find out.

So if I run into any problems in future I just upload the most recently backed up WordPress folder from my local computer to my public_html folder via FTP?

Also, this backup is taking quite a while, as does the WordPress Database backup.

Isn’t there a quicker/easier way to backup? I don’t mind doing it once but every 3 or 4 days could be a chore!

    Thanks.

Typically, the only thing that would change is what you upload in terms of videos/pix etc so on a routine basis you might only need to back that up. Also some hosts do a backup of ‘everything’.

Oh, and if you install new plugins/themes that would require backup.
