   Hello all,

   I'm currently in the process of backing up my WP files to switch to a new hosting provider. I currently run a Windows 2003 server, however is this the best to use? I want to get rid of the /index.php tags in my URL's and I've heard that switching to a Linux OS would solve this.

   Any advice or tips I should be aware of? Thanks in advance.

   Backup your database and files. See WordPress Backups

   Linux hosting plan is probably best.

   You can also set index.php as a default index page on windows server too but Linux plan is the best for PHP/MySQL application.
