• The theme I’m currently using doesn’t support threaded comments, so I wanted to know what the best comment management system is. Aside from the default threaded comment plugin which doesn’t seem to work for me, I’ve heard of both IntenseDebate and DISQUS, though ID seems to have some problems with importing comments. Do either of these services have any gaping flaws, and are they customizable/simple enough so that they wouldn’t discourage casual commenters?

Long story short, I’m looking for a good way to manage my comments and encourage discussion, especially through the use of threaded comments. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • I am loving my Disqus plugin. I have only recently built my site, but I’ve seen Disqus all over the place, hence my interest in installing it. However, I feel like I am missing some of the neat features that other plugins can do to the default comment system, which do include threading and other features of interest to you.

I am not helping much, but I do love Disqus so far, though I have to admit I am still exploring.

I just wanted to add that I’ve found a great couple of articles representing the pros/cons of Disqus and it has me thinking again:

    PROS/CONS

The cons are things I never considered. hmmmm…

I am using the ‘close comments after __ days’ option on my blog. I want to display the ‘comments are closed’ message for the relevant posts. Is it possible to do so with Disqus plugin? (I’ve already tried Intense Debate).
