  • There’s a few listed here:

My vote is for Spam Karma and WP HashCash.

interknow, there hasn’t been a competition yet, and you would have to read how the plugins work, and make up your mind. I should think this has been discussed before, so you might want to search too.

    To each his own.

Referrer spam is kind of another threat, I think. Have a look at Referrer Karma as well. They can’t spam it if they can’t get to it. (Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, of course, I won’t take offense.)

As for preventing comment spam, try the popular ones and see which best fits your site. My site hasn’t been getting spammed much, so I’m relying on WordPress’ built-in protection and MacManX’s moderation list.

    I use CG-Referrer and CG-AntiSpam… But I’m biased. 😉

I’m trying out spaminator right now for the first time. (Jury is still out…) I’ve been using WP-HackCash with good results – save for trackback spam. I installed “Moderate Trackbacks” and “Moderate Pingbacks” and that at least let me keep the silly things in moderation que.

hashcash with wp’s built in spam list. i recently found four comments it caught – it was an emotional moment. no configurations either, install and done:)
