I am down on my virtual knees. I am clueless about coding. But I found the PERFECT theme for my blog. Problem is I need it to be widget enabled. I can’t get widgets or even any sort of coding to appear in the content (not YouTube vid codes, nothin!)….

This is the theme I’m using:

If there is someone out there who would have mercy on my soul and possibly help me get this thing widget enabled (I know nothing so talk to me as if I know nothing, step by step) I would be forever in awe of you. Thank you so much. I hope someone helps.

    1. Widgets will NOT help you to get code in your content. Widgets are for the sidebar(s).

    2. If you put code in your content – TURN OFF the wysiwyg animal (a.k.a. visual editor). Do not swicth between code/visual but turn it off forever.

After that search the forum about embedding youtube or other videos…

I realized the bit about coding after I posted. :p

As far as the widgets, THAT is the primary issue for me. And thanks so much but that link doesn’t help me. I’ve read that and it might as well be a foreign language lol, b/c unfortunately I don’t see any code that looks anything like any of that in my pages (and for that matter I don’t know which page it would be in….main index, footer, header, etc etc?).

I need direct help, not long explanations for people who already know coding. Thanks for the link but I’m in desperate need of someone to pretty much tell me step by step where and how and pray someone will….

The easiest thing might just be to email Brian, as the creator of the theme he would have the best chance of knowing if it can be widgetized.

I’ve tried and gotten no response, and besides on his website he says he isn’t doing any jobs at this time anyway.

See the problem is….take a look at the theme:

Well, basically all I need to do is I want to be able to do a post but put audio in it using the audio widet code where it then just pulls up that little player button thing that visitors click and listen. Problem is, I don’t have widgets enabled so all that happens is the code shows up as is….no player or anything.

My concern is that the whoe widgeting your theme tutorials all act like it’s only doable in sidebars. Well, I’m wanting to be able to insert this stuff into the MAIN content area like where I post, not the sidebar areas where the links and ads are. So how can I make the main section of the theme where the posts appear accept my audio code widget….???

I downloaded the theme last night and tried to play with it to see if I could figure it out. is this the plugin you are trying to install?

They don’t “act”. They describe a fact. Live with it.

Go back to my first post above and read again #1:

    Wasn’t that clear enough?

Nonsense. There are already plenty of themes that use widgets for more than just a sidebar, look for the Shifter theme as the most extreme example. The fact that you don’t understand or have the imagination to use it outside of the sidebar doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

That aside, yes, for including audio in a post you’d need a plugin, not a widget.
