I want to finish the new site using wordpress before I transfer the dns from the old static site/host to the new one.

I’ve gotten wordpress installed, and customer support helped me access the files, but all the wordpress interface styles are missing, and I cannot preview anything.

Any help would be appreciated. My client is visually oriented, so won’t appreciate entering info on trust that it will look right in the end.

have changed the two url fields under settings to a 00.00.00.00sitename.com url to force wordpress to use the new host servers.

Have not yet uploaded a custom theme, am using default.

    Thanks

umm., Im not sure what you mean by using the new hosts’s servers, but anyway…

If you are working on a new site, at a new host then that site has a proper url, whether or not its the domain name doesnt matter — it may very well be: http://www.newhost.com/~username) and thats what needs to in the one field.

After you make the dns switch, you can change the url to the old domain name.

See “moving wordpress” in the codex for all of this info.

THANKS! I thought I had tried everything but missed the obvious. Appreciate the hand-holding.
