Be careful if you install 2.7 from scratch...WITHOUT A BACKUP (2 posts)

Just a word of warning... I had a bit of a problem upgrading from 2.6 to 2.7. I kept getting blank white screen with no error message. My blog is heavily mod-ed, so that was probably something to do with me.

But I had all my posts backed up using wordpress's 'export' feature, so i thought i'd just wipe the database, delete the whole lot and start from scratch.

It installed with no problems, and the new interface is great. I also imported all my old posts no problem.
    But...
For some dumb reason i thought it would preserve the post numbers. Now I realise that that was a completely dumb thing to assume. because now all my post urls and category urls have changed.

so don't be dumb like me. don't wipe the database and import your old files.

on a side note... why doesn't the export file include all the category descriptions as well? because i have 50 or so categories with 2-3 sentence descriptions, and i had to write the whole lot in manually.
They should put that in the export file as well.

That's why it's recommended to backup the database instead.
