[resolved] bbPress Integration (5 posts)

    Hi.
Thank you for the wonderful plugin.
I tried the normal page-post and the plugin works beautifully.
But it seems the plugin doesn't play nice with bbPress (or maybe vice versa).
I have tried to add the plugin's shortcode into bbPress2 shortcode whitelist but to no avail.
It would be perfect if the two could work side by side.
    Thank you.

    Hi ccov,

This might be a theme issue. After installing bbPress and the shortcode whitelist plugin, then whitelisting the ref shortcode, Side Matter appears to be working OK under the Twenty Twelve theme (screenshot). What theme are you using? Does it have a sidebar that appears on forum topic pages?

    Hi setzer.
    Thank you for your response.
I think you are right, this is a theme issue and not both of the plugins.

I'm using a customized theme from a custom skeleton wordpress theme and it does have a sidebar in forum topic pages. And after a small research, it turns out that Side Matter did worked but only to the replies and not to the lead topic; as shown in this screenshot.

I suspect there might be something different with the way the theme view bbPress handled lead topic's post-content and the replies. But alas that complexity is beyond my limited knowledge, so any help to resolve it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

ccov, since this does not happen under Twenty Twelve, it does appear to be theme-related. My guess is that somehow your theme is forcing shortcodes to be processed late, i.e. only after the initial post to a topic. Unfortunately, I'm not very well acquainted with bbPress and can't be more specific.

One idea: You could do some testing and see if this problem only happens with shortcodes whitelisted by the plugin, or native bbPress shortcodes as well. If it's the former, the developer of the whitelist plugin might know more about how to get this working. Otherwise, you could contact the author of your custom theme for support.

    Good luck!

Thank you very much for your help, setzer.
From your idea, I got Side Matter working perfectly by duplicating a filter to topic_content which default only applied to reply_content by the whitelist plugin.
Once again, thank you and have a nice day.
