@dumbcarla: I have my own beef with this ‘plugin’ (t does not ‘plug’ into WordPress in any way, and imnsho, it shouldn’t have been accept at all) — but ‘membership site’ is not a correct characterization either.
The common understanding of a ‘membership’ site is a website that exist only to give users access to some content which is not available to non-members. While the mothership of this plugin requires login and has a ton of help guides, calling it a membership site would be akin to calling Google Analytics a membership site — which also requires an account and has ton of help guides.
That said, and as I’ve said earlier, I don’t think this ought to be a WordPress plugin all — unless the developer (SiteSell.com) can integrate the features into the WP dashboard.
Fair enough George. Sounds like you know what you’re talking about. I don’t really mind what they call it, as long as people aren’t taken by unpleasant surprise when they install the thing like I was.
