[resolved] Basic steps/structure for setting up an area as "blog" in a wp Web site (5 posts)

Hi, I know this is a super basic and idiotic question, but please bear with me! My wordpress site is functioning primarily as a web site, but there is one particular area I'd like to designate as a "blog", allowing for reverse chronological posts and comments and the ability to search/assign tags/categories ... I thought to do that I'd just need to make the "blog area" a "post" (vs. a page) and have discussion/comments enabled ... But this "post" is not functioning as a blog it's more like a page. If I go into it to edit content, it's like editing a page ... vs. being able to add a new "entry" or "post" that is listed reverse chronologically with comments. How do I make a designated area its own blog? What are the steps/structure to set that up, while having the rest of the site behave as a typical web site?? I think I just need to rearrange a few things, but I have no idea what ... Sorry for this basic and dumb question. And thanks for any insight! jessa

Thanks. What I needed to do was to have my menu "blog" item be designated as a Category, vs. a Post. Now I can make posts that appear under that Category (menu item). These links are helpful too!

Now, any idea how to make my "Discussions" option appear under "Screen Options"? I don't see Discussions under the post text box of any post; nor do I see a Discussion Check box under Screen Options?

Edit any post. Click Screen Options. Discussion should be listed there.
