I give up. I won't bore you with the details, but I've tried just about every gallery/blog application there is, 3 different hosts because they weren't giving me what I needed on the server, decided maybe I could work with WP - and I can't! This has been going on for months, and I urgently need some help with BASIC coding.

This is what I've got so far:

What I want is a basic photoblog something basic like these, but using the Letterhead theme I've already got installed:

    http://www.ephemera.org
    http://www.dockwalker.com

I've concluded, I really need some help to set this up, just make the basic modifications to the templates etc. so I've got a working site.

I think you need to be more specific.

You look like you need to take some stuff out of the sidebar, that should not be too difficult with a bit of experimentation.

Both the sites you link to have horizontal menus which are explained in the codex

There are some media plugins that may be useful.

I am surprised you are running into such difficulties, I am no PHP whizz, I have only been using PHP a few weeks and I have too sites, one not really a blog, up with no real difficulties.

Well, I'm starting to conclude that I'm just not suited for this kind of work. I see code on the screen, my eyes start to glaze over, and after several weeks of this I'm now finding that I dont even go to these forums or log in to my WP admin. Basically, I'm fed up with it.

Is anyone interested in having a look at my site and getting it going? The thing is, it doesnt actually need much work. Its not difficult - for someoen who knows about this. For me, it is.

I'm willing to make a small payment for some assistance.

I can help you out, but I need an email address to contact you. No payment necessary.

What, specifically, are you having problems with?

Hi Tina - thats very kind of you!
Sent you an e mail at your site.

My basic problem is - I can't do it! I've tried to understand WP and how to use it, tried tutorials that didn't work and dont know why etc etc.

I need a simple photoblog 'architecture' with a front page, archives, and a section for some writing. That's it! - nothing more.

Those links you gave are not WordPress blogs. You might need Coppermine or such.

Ephemera uses Movabletype and Dockwalker uses Textpatern: the two WP competitors! You should be able to do exactly the same thing in WP. I have actually installed both Gallery and Coppermine, but they're not the same thing: they create galleries, not daily photoblogs.

I haven't created a photoblog, but my understanding is that pictorialis is the plugin you need. Do a search for 'photoblog' in the forums here and you will probably find some information that will be useful to you.

    Thanks.
But I've tried just about everything. I've installed WP, Textpattern, Pictorialis and several gallery applications. I've been searching all the forums for weeks, tried several tutorials that didnt work (dont know why), and I cant work any of it out. Some people are good at maths, English, whatever, some people are good at this, and some people aren't - that's me! Pretty freakin fed up with it and just need some help, I'm afraid.
