I’ve been a fan of Basecamp but never wanted to use it b/c it had to be hosted by them. I want something that I can host on my personal server. Does anyone know of a WordPress plugin/add-on that does this or a third party app that I can add to my site?

  • Hi MaddTechWF,

I know of two things that may be able to help you. The first is a WP theme called GTD Blog Theme from Templatic and the second is a plugin for WP called Project Manager.

Hope either of these 2 help.

Check out the WordPress plugin CollabPress, it’s a project and task management plugin for WP using custom post types and taxonomies:

    Brad,
Thanks for the plugin recommendation. I will have to give it a look over. I was googling Client Portals when I got your email. Do you happen to know of anything that would give me the ability to have a “client” section where people could login and find documents, files, etc that I have posted up for them?

You can use the new [collabpress] shortcode to display a single project. Wrap a login script around the shortcode and you have a dedicated members section with project with task list support
