• I have 2 websites that are continuously spitting out “Bad link emails” that contain something like this…

A user tried to go to <strong>http://www.domain.com/plugins/editors/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/tinybrowser/tinybrowser.php?type=file&folder= and received a 404 (page not found) error. It wasn't their fault, so try fixing it.

    They came from www.domain.com/plugins/editors/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/tinybrowser/tinybrowser.php?type=file&folder=

I have proper htaccess files, have re-saved permalink structure, etc.

The only common element is “Dean’s Permalinks Migration” plugin that I installed to help with the issue.

Anyone have other ideas. The fact that this is happening on 2 different sites, on different servers, with different plugins (other than one above) is odd.

I have done an exhaustive search in WordPress Forums and on the web. None of the tricks or tips I have tried have worked.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    esmi,
    Thank you for those suggestions.
    Going to try them now.
Will report back when I have some results.

    bump.
my friend’s site has been spouting the same emails forever .. i’ve updated to latest version of WP, turned off and on plugins, reset the permalink structure and also tried resetting the plugins folder by phpMyAdmin. still no luck.

im sure i could remove the email output feature from the theme’s 404 template, but that doesnt mean the the problem is solved. the bad links are to files or folders that do not exist (usually to plugins that are not installed), kinda leading me to think the site was infested with the WordPress Pharma Hack (especially as the site was still at version 2.7 before i stepped in) but found no evidence after searching through all the files on the server.

so, anyone got any idea what the crap is goin on?
