Bad Behavior Bogs Down Backup, Batman! (10 posts)

OK, so I use Bad Behavior, and it seems to be working its butt off.

But, whenever I do a backup, Bad Behavior makes the size of my backup file swell....and it's getting bigger all the time. If only certain parts of my body were like that.

Anyway, why is BBehavior doing this? And what could BBehavior possibly be storing that it is making my database so huge 1.091MB and counting, as opposed to 158 K without it.

    ZOIKS and ZOWIE!

You need to go in and delete the BB log file occasionally as it will GROW and GROW and....

Current versions of BB prune after a week, right?

But if your site is doing a lot of blocking (via BB) that BB table will indeed be huge.

But Batman, I feel like such a dope.

Deleting a "log file" of some sort was precisely my first thought [pounds fist into hand; winces].

Then when I went to the Bad Behavior options, I didn't see a delete log file option.

    Let me take another look...

    ....nope, it's not there.

~Leapin lizards, BatFans! Will Robin rid himself of the rediculously robust Bad Behavior log file before it bogs down his bodaciously badassed bodybuilding web site? Or will no care and leave him twisting in the wind.

Tune in next time, same Bat Web Site.....~

NananaNanana - - - Bat Behavior.... (Ok, that was bad :P)

You'll need to do it manually via the Database.

And as Handy mentioned, make sure you are running the latest version, as it is much better at purging old logs.

So what then, do I just drop the table?

    Empty, not drop.

  8. Also make sure "verbose logging" isn't ticked in the options. That can make a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge table...

OK so I went to my Database, and not seeing one for "Bad Behavior" I looked at wp-options, since it seemed to be taking up the most room.

From there I saw no "Bad Behavior". I am comfortable in my database manager, but I admit I was a tad lost because I did not see what I was expecting to see.

What do I look for to locate the table I need to empty? The reason I am so confused is because in my http://bluestravels.com blog, I see a listing for BadBehavior. But not in my http://totalphysiqueonline.com/ database. In my bluestravels it looks like this:

    wp_bad_behavior
    wp_categories
    wp_catt_visibility
    wp_comments
    wp_linkcategories
    wp_links
    wp_options
    wp_podpress_statcounts
    wp_podpress_stats
    wp_post2cat
    wp_postmeta
    wp_posts
    wp_recentlinks
    wp_t2
    wp_usermeta
    wp_users

Even though my TPO blog has the same exact plugins as my Bluestravels blog, my TPO blog database looks like this:

    wp_categories
    wp_comments
    wp_linkcategories
    wp_links
    wp_options
    wp_podpress_statcounts
    wp_podpress_stats
    wp_post2cat
    wp_postmeta
    wp_posts
    wp_recentlinks
    wp_usermeta
    wp_users

And this concerns me because it seems as though several of the plugins that I am using on my TPO blog, even though they work fine, are not being accounted for in the database. And that means when I back it up, several key datafields are missing.

    The plot thickens.

So, Lucy, you have some Splain'in to do!

For the record, I have not resolved this issue. Does anyone have some additional suggestions?
