Backup Plugin Corrupts Site - Server Error (6 posts)

WP DB Backup corrupted this older version site. The site is no longer accessible via browser. Same for the admin panel.

It appears I have a successful DB backup via PHP MyAdmin. And I have all site files locally. It would be nice to be able to fix this old site as I'm rebuilding new & better elsewhere.

I'm guessing I can just upgrade to the current version, but I don't have access to deactivate plugins first.

Any thoughts about what has been corrupted and how to fix it?

Backup Plugin Corrupts Site - Server Error

Im missing something. A server error doesnt sugest a corrupt site. How about elaborating on the error. How about deleting the plugin via your FTP?

You're right. Server error didn't cause the problem, it's the result of it. The only thing I can figure is that, my attempt to be doubly certain I got the DB backup caused the problem. I already had a successful backup via PHP MyAdmin. Then I tried the WP DB Backup plugin, which warned me it wasn't compatible with WP 1.5 but I still suspect that I clicked on something I shouldn't have and cause the plugin to corrupt something.

I certainly can delete plugins via FTP. I was interested to know if anyone else had successfully used that approach when admin panel is not accessible.

    WordPress tells you
that you can do this, on the plugin page itself --
