Backup not completing

    When running scheduled or manual backups, I see the “last backup log message” in the control panel update the with the number of files and file size, but the process looks to start over every 2 or 3 mins.

    Last backup log message:
    Zip: backup_2013-02-23-2156_Site_Name_6d4a83310800-plugins.zip.tmp: 1500 files added (size: 11207.8 Kb) (Feb 23 22:57:58)

    The number of files and the file size in the above message drops to zero every few minutes.

    Last backup always shows “No backup has been completed”

    Download and backup logs show “0 available”

    When I log into the server via FTP and go to wp-content/updraft, a zip file and logs are present. However, only a backup of the plugins folder is contained within the zip. You can view the log files here: view logs

    Seems like the backup is getting hung up somewhere and is started over again and again. Any ideas on what might be causing the issue?

    By the look of the log I examined, your web hosting company allows your PHP processes no more than 20 seconds to run at a time. (From my experience on this forum, most companies allow at least 2 minutes). That’s proving insufficient to create all your zip files – as presently programmed, UpdraftPlus requires all the zip files to be created within 10 runs. That limit is a bit arbitrary though. I will look at tweaking the code to allow further attempts if something useful still appears to be happening, even if still only on the zip file creation stage. I’m shutting down until Monday now, though. If you program, then you can in the meantime poke around inside updraftplus.php looking for the numbers 9 and 10 and lift them to something else.

    Sorry for forgetting to reply to this. The most recent versions of UpdraftPlus now use an improved algorithm which should solve your problem. Please do let me know how you get on.
