email robot says it completed backup, but when I go in WP
it hasn't done it.
The previous version of b/u worked fine. Not sure what's wrong with it this time?

Hi,
Can you go onto the plugin and click Activity Log. Then next to failed backup click View Events.
Please post the event log here so we can investigate.
Also click Help & Support and post the information from the white box.Thanks,

Hi,
We've got a diagnostics version you can try which will generate a log.
You can download it here: https://wordpress.backup-technology.com/wponlinebackup-423-tracing.zipYou'll need to Deactivate and Delete the plugin you've already got installed (please note it will lose your settings, sorry). Then you go to Plugins, then click Add New at the top, click the Upload option and then upload the ZIP file above.
It will look like the usual plugin but will create a file called trace.log at /wp-content/plugins/wponlinebackup-423-tracing/trace.log
Please run an online backup and reproduce the problem.You can email your blog URL to support "at" backup-technology.co.uk and we can try to access the trace.log in our web browser and see what's happening. Or you could download it via FTP, compress it, and email it.
We can then investigate. Let me know if you aren't sure on any of the above.Thanks,

quick update, small boo boo. I deleted the entire process including the vault (forgot the encrypt key).Anyway, looks like I'll have to wait till the delete is done in the vault.
I have my other B/U scheduled for Sun. so we'll see how they go.

Can you email support "at" backup-technology.co.uk with your username for wordpress.backup-technology.com. We can remove everything and reset it immediately (probably be done on Monday).
Not sure what you mean by can't login though, or "seeing the old blog" - can you be more specific and describe the steps and what you see to come to this conclusion? Maybe email it along with some snapshots to the above email address.

Yes just checked. You didn't send any trace log and didn't link to the topic so they thought it was a support request and that you hadn't raised a topic. I've got your subsequent email though. But the log you included isn't of much use and I need the diagnostics trace.log file that the replacement plugin I gave you produces.
Can you send the email again, but this time include the trace.log file?
You should find it on your web server at /wp-content/plugins/wponlinebackup-423-tracing/trace.log
It might be quite big so best to download via FTP and compress it before emailing it. Right-click it in Windows and Send To then Compressed Zip File - a .zip file should appear and will be much smaller so you can email it.If you include a link to this topic (or refer to it) the email will usually get to me. Basically it's much easier to use this forum and means it becomes a good place to find solutions. Email just gets messy sometimes and it's harder for me to work with.

Sorry for the delay. Just looked and found the email. I think with it not mentioning WordPress or linking to this topic maybe it didn't get forwarded or I simply missed it!
Right. Looks like your blog is using a lot of memory and the backup is struggling because some times when it tries to allocate there isn't enough memory.
Can you try this newer tracing version? It contains changes that will be released in the next release of the plugin, 2.2.14. One of the changes is better calculation on how much memory is available so it can better prevent the problem you are having.

Not sure what there is to do, it worked perfectly fine for me and I've validated the ZIP file after downloading it myself and it's in perfect health.
Make sure you deleted the one you downloaded and downloaded it again, and make sure the download finished. That's the only help I suggest for that.
If you right-click properties the ZIP file, it should have Size of this:

Hi,
Very odd. Try it manually. Extract the contents of the ZIP folder on your computer and you should get a folder called "wponlinebackup-434-tracing".
Connect to your host via FTP, and browse to "/wp-content/plugins/"
Update the folder here, so you get: "/wp-content/plugins/wponlinebackup-434-tracing/"
Activate the plugin (it should appear in the list then)
Let me know if this works.

Hi Jason, I've totally started all over again with the regular one. Looks like it can't handle "large" files. But they're not that large.
Is there a limit to the files (which doesn't make sense, if you're doing a backup of a website)?

When you say "regular" one, what version?
I've already said the problem is due to memory usage of your blog and that we need to install the newer tracing version as it improves memory usage for blogs using lots of memory.
So we need to install the new tracing one. No other version will work. Did you try the manual installation I described above?
