Support » Fixing WordPress » Backup from FTP?

  • Hi,

I was wondering if backing up the wordpress site via FTP or file manager backs up the “database”. I understand from an answer I got on here a while back that backing up the wordpress db doesn’t back up themes/plug-ins so they are stored in FTP. Ideally, I would be wanting to do a backup of the database containing articles etc… and the themes/plug-ins.

It also says my site is 1593.16 MB, not sure if that’s too big? My site doesn’t look to be that big http://www.webhostfocus.net

    Thanks!

  • You need to back up both the site files and the database – this should give you some good info on ways to do so:

    Thanks.

So I just need to get a backup of everything in the wordpress folder containing themes, plug-in data etc and and my SQL database(s), and that’s me sorted? Or should I use the database backup that my automated plug-in does for me instead of the SQL?
