Backing up large WPMU installation

    We have a very large WPMU install, and the database tables count is upto about 38,000 tables. mysqldump takes a very long time.

    Has anyone found an effective backup solution to installations of this size?

    Anything else still ultimately does a mysql dump. 🙂

    May want to optimize the db and clean up a lot of large tables. wp_X_options will have a lot of transient rss feed fields which can be dropped, as they only contain the dashboard feed links.
