• hey guys. i recently had a forced move of my server, so i thought i’d reinstall a fresh version of wordpress 1.5 (without all the failed, experimental and useless plugins etc. from my old wordpress site)
but i’d also like to move all my posts from my old site to the new one.

can you tell me which files i should download from my old site and upload to my new site in order for all the previous posts (and comments) to be in my new installation?

i am fully aware of this page
    http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups

and its helping alot. i’m just wondering if by just saving the wp_comments and wp_posts and just uploading those 2 to my new site, will it screw up everything?

    thanks!
    Ronny.

  • I don’t think anyone would be foolish enough to say “sure.” Backup all the WP tables if you want and exclude any additional tables created by some of the plugins. You’ll also need the tables that tell which comments go with which posts and which posts go in which categories as well as what authors wrote what posts.
