Working great but still a bit confused about where everything is.

Front end is where I have the CPanel hosting files and I backup regularly so that should be OK? (databases etc)

    Where is the backend stored?

If I lose my password then I get a reset from WordPress so presume something is on their site and not my cPanel installation?

Everything is on your server. Back-end would be the admin section of your WordPress, the post edit screens, pages, widgets, themes, plugins etc. Front-end is what the user sees in their browser, so the actual site on the domain.

All content, settings, posts, data etc is stored in a MySQL database which the web files (php, javascript etc) pull data in from. When you lost your password, it is generated from the php files and the database. There is no involvement from the WordPress website.

Thanks Phil for the fast response! thought it would be unusual to be on the WordPress site but could not understand the password reset bit.

I’ll follow the link and read further. So the files I was expecting to see in cPanel file manager are actually in the database and not viewable without logging in to the backend/admin.

    It’s a brilliant system!
