Avoid WP-Stats little face at the bottom of my pages

Hi…found the thread on this from a few years back, and also the link to the WP FAQ on same here…

But exactly “where” in my theme’s style.css file do I place the line which is supposed to turn off that smiley face –
img#wpstats{display:none}

I did try to add it to the #footer { area by just pasting that in in it’s own line like this –
#footer {
width: 960px;
height: 30px;
color: #FFFFFF;
margin: 0px auto 0px;
padding: 0px;

img#wpstats{display:none}
}
— but that did NOT turn off the smiley face?

Can someone help here?
