Avoid WordPress redirecting after URL change or page deletion (1 post)

    Hello guys,

Can you please help me with something weird WordPress is doing?

I just realized one page I had was really not performing well in Google so I changed it's text a bit, it's title and also the url, which had too many stop words and the keywords inverted in it.

When I changed the URL I also went into Webmaster tools to tell Google to delete the page. The trouble is that the old URL, instead of giving an expected 404, was redirecting me to a similar blog post I had on the subject??

I really need WP to NOT do these things. Can you please tell me how to make it behave it differently? (i.e. If I change the URL of a page the old URL must give 404!).

By the way, I have rewrite on if this helps.

    Thanks in advance!
